Now I think I should be reviewing more of tissues or nose sprays than lip balms thanks to this cold but here you go anyway as I promised.
I honestly have all of these in use on daily basis depending on where I am. I have two in my bag, 3 scattered around the house so I reach to one that's closest pretty much.
Anyway, here are my top 5 lip balms.
Bepanthen
This isn't really a lip balm but this is better than any lip balm. It is a lotion with dexpanthenol. I use the red one which is really thick and creamy, blue one absorbs more easily but it isn't as good for lips. Bepanthen can be used to all kinds of skin disorders or burns like sunburn, small scratches or nappy rash. I also use it to keep freshly made tattoo moist and to prevent scarring. Also now when I have cold and need to blow my nose a lot I use this around my nose to prevent it from getting too sensitive and raw.
One problem there is with Bepanthen and that is the tube. It's made out of some kind of foil/thin metal and it breaks easily when twisted and I've ended up more than once having the lotion inside my bag so nowadays I don't even take it with me anywhere, I just use it at home for the night and in the morning. Really good for chapped lips in winter, in summer this might be too heavy and since it doesn't have any SPF I'd suggest you use something else to outside.
ACO Face lip balm
ACO comes from words Apotekens Composita and is a Swedish company which products are sold in pharmacies. I don't really use other ACO products except for one hand lotion but I really like this lip balm. It has E-vitamin, vaselin and sunflower oil and it smells of vanillin. It's really light and leaves a tiny shine to lips which makes them look healthy.
Ingredients:
Petrolatum
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Ozokerite
Cetearyl Alcohol
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
Cera Carnauba
Tocopheryl Acetate
Tocopherol
Vanillin
Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
I have to admit I didn't like this at the start. It was really thick I felt like it should've been more soft so I could've gotten it to my lips easier. I liked the result but couldn't use it outside in the Finnish cold since it would get even harder to get out of the tube to your lips since when it got cold it got even thicker. Then again I can't argue with the results, it worked fine making my lips softer. If you don't like scent of honey then I suggest you skip this one and try some differently scented one from the brand.
Also available in a tin.
Ingredients (tube):
cera alba (beeswax, cire d'abeille), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, lanolin, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil (huile de colza), limonene
Yes To Carrots lip butter (citrus)
I haven't used this for long but I can tell you I really like it. All natural ingredients and no Paraben, Petroleum or Phthalate. There are different scents available but I got the citrus on since you can't really go wrong with it. Scent isn't overwhelming and mostly I don't even notice that there's any scent at all. Easy to apply and works well.
Key ingredients:
Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Vitamin E
Moonsteam Alchemy's lip balms
Last but definitely not least! I only wanted to try these due to the cute tubes but I'm in love with these! I have Airship Cocktails (cherry & mint) and FuturePast (spiced cream & rasberry). I love the scents (will try more asap), they're cheap and the tubes are made of 100% recycled materials.
Some are also available in a tin.
Ingredients:
beeswax, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, flavor oils and essential oils
Ok fine I confess, I made an order to Moonsteam Alchemy for 6 (yes, SIX!) more lip balms - different flavours this time. So yeah, I really like them and I hope the new scents/flavours are as nice.
What are your favourite lip balms?

I haven't heard of most of the ones you mention, which means they're not sold here.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm — I love this product. All natural, good for you, good for the environment. What's best is that no animals were killed or tortured for the making of this product. I keep a tube in my car, my truck, my husbands truck, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, on my desk, and in my coat pocket. Especially in the winter time, I NEVER want to be without this product.
ReplyDeleteBurt's Bees lip balm leaves your lips soft and moisturized. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Since discovering Burt's Bees, I have thrown out all of my petroleum-laden products like Blistex and Chap Stick.
