My top #5 of lip balms!

Now I think I should be reviewing more of tissues or nose sprays than lip balms thanks to this cold but here you go anyway as I promised.

I honestly have all of these in use on daily basis depending on where I am. I have two in my bag, 3 scattered around the house so I reach to one that's closest pretty much.

Anyway, here are my top 5 lip balms.

Bepanthen

This isn't really a lip balm but this is better than any lip balm. It is a lotion with dexpanthenol. I use the red one which is really thick and creamy, blue one absorbs more easily but it isn't as good for lips. Bepanthen can be used to all kinds of skin disorders or burns like sunburn, small scratches or nappy rash. I also use it to keep freshly made tattoo moist and to prevent scarring. Also now when I have cold and need to blow my nose a lot I use this around my nose to prevent it from getting too sensitive and raw.

One problem there is with Bepanthen and that is the tube. It's made out of some kind of foil/thin metal and it breaks easily when twisted and I've ended up more than once having the lotion inside my bag so nowadays I don't even take it with me anywhere, I just use it at home for the night and in the morning. Really good for chapped lips in winter, in summer this might be too heavy and since it doesn't have any SPF I'd suggest you use something else to outside.

ACO Face lip balm

ACO comes from words Apotekens Composita and is a Swedish company which products are sold in pharmacies. I don't really use other ACO products except for one hand lotion but I really like this lip balm. It has E-vitamin, vaselin and sunflower oil and it smells of vanillin. It's really light and leaves a tiny shine to lips which makes them look healthy.

Ingredients:
Petrolatum
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Ozokerite
Cetearyl Alcohol
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
Cera Carnauba
Tocopheryl Acetate
Tocopherol
Vanillin

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

I have to admit I didn't like this at the start. It was really thick I felt like it should've been more soft so I could've gotten it to my lips easier. I liked the result but couldn't use it outside in the Finnish cold since it would get even harder to get out of the tube to your lips since when it got cold it got even thicker. Then again I can't argue with the results, it worked fine making my lips softer. If you don't like scent of honey then I suggest you skip this one and try some differently scented one from the brand.

Also available in a tin.

Ingredients (tube):
cera alba (beeswax, cire d'abeille), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, lanolin, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil (huile de colza), limonene

Yes To Carrots lip butter (citrus)

I haven't used this for long but I can tell you I really like it. All natural ingredients and no Paraben, Petroleum or Phthalate. There are different scents available but I got the citrus on since you can't really go wrong with it. Scent isn't overwhelming and mostly I don't even notice that there's any scent at all. Easy to apply and works well.

Key ingredients:

Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Vitamin E

Moonsteam Alchemy's lip balms

Last but definitely not least! I only wanted to try these due to the cute tubes but I'm in love with these! I have Airship Cocktails (cherry & mint) and FuturePast (spiced cream & rasberry). I love the scents (will try more asap), they're cheap and the tubes are made of 100% recycled materials.

Some are also available in a tin.

Ingredients:

beeswax, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, flavor oils and essential oils

Ok fine I confess, I made an order to Moonsteam Alchemy for 6 (yes, SIX!) more lip balms - different flavours this time. So yeah, I really like them and I hope the new scents/flavours are as nice.

What are your favourite lip balms?

LOTD ~ Being ill

If you haven't read my whine on Twitter yet or here then yes, I'm ill. Having the worst cold in ages but I still had to brave outside and show my face to other people when I went to pharmacy and grocery store.

I wanted something that wouldn't run down my face on a first sneeze. I even mixed foundation with lotion since I didn't want too thick foundation and then I'd sneeze off everything around nose and it would look really horrible.

So this is what I ended up with (UD YDK and Sin plus YDK folded on eyes with of course waterproof mascara). Don't mind the puffy face and teary eyes.

Tomorrow something different (revealed it on blog's fan page at Facebook) since I hope I don't have to put any make up on.

NOTD ~ Charred Earth

Sorry about the quality of photos but had to take them inside with flash, didn't have daylight around. Gosh's Rainbow doesn't really show on pictures but it does show irl as either orange or green "glitter". I also included pics of what all nail polishes I used for this look.

I bet this mani will be a hell to take off tho.

Facebook page.

I have made a Facebook page for my blog. At the moment it's quite dead - only feed from this blog there and some pics up - but I have thought about having Facebook only giveaways and competitions in the future.

I don't want to add people I don't know my personal Facebook site so this is also a good way to share some quick information with you like if I can't post for a while or what's coming up in the blog.

So if you want to check out the site and "Like" it then go HERE.

I also have a Twitter page but it has both personal and blog related stuff and you can find it from here.

LOTD ~ Flash of Flesh

Today I wanted to try a look with darker colour on inner corner and lightest on the outer corner. First of all a small warning: don't use this if you have eyes close to each other or you have a lazy eye since it makes me look like I have eyes really close to each other and my eyes are crossing. Without eyeliner this look wouldn't work on me at all.

Inspiration I took from MAC face chart called (surprise, surprise) Flahs of Flesh.

I used:

EYES
Lumene Eye Makeup Base
MAC Paint Pots in Painterly and Quite Natural
Gosh Trio palette in Smoky
MAC Vanilla e/s
Inglot gel liner in 77
Urban Decay liner in Zero
IsaDora Inliner Kajal in Blonde

LIPS
Gosh Darling lipstick

FACE, CHEEKS and BROWS
Revlon PhotoReady foundation in Vanilla
Benefit Erase Paste in Fair
Gosh Loose Powder in Translucent

Rimmel Bronzer in Sunlight
Fräulein blush palette (peachy one)

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow pencil in Hazel

Now I should head to pharmacy to get something to make me feel better. Been off work today due to possible bronchitis, nurse told me to stay home today and I really hope this is going away rather than getting worse even if today I feel crappier than yesterday. I hate being ill! Who doesn't tbh.

Hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you!

LOTD ~ Raquelle (and some other looks)

Today's lotd was inspired by Barbie's Fashion Fairytale movie and Raquelle in it (she's only showed for a minute or so but her make up looks nice).

Eye make up is done with Aromaleigh's Real Gone (yellow), Hi-Fi Cosmetics' Rusty Axe (outer V) and Spookshow (on top of Rusty Axe and crease) plus Inglot gel liner in 77 (black).

And this is the inspiration picture, still from the movie.

And in case someone didn't guess it's been my 6-year-old girl who wants to watch Barbie movies and now that she's been ill from Monday I've had to watch quite a few movies.

And this is my little patient.

I also tried some liner look for MUG weekly challenge but didn't turn out how I wanted and I only did one eye so not going to put this there so will show it to you.

Also I did some really basic look on weekend with browns.

That's it all for today. Now I just hope I don't catch whatever my daughter has since today breathing seems weird.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture

Old Hollywood glamour, that's all I can say about this collection. I'd love to wear any of the pieces from the collection. Gotta love John Galliano!

Collection was inspired by the illustrations of René Gruau.

LOTD ~ Barbie Girl

I get Aqua's Barbie Girl ringing in my head now.

I tried to recreate Barbie Loves MAC look with my 96 palette and this is how it turned out.

On lips I have Hi-Fi Cosmetics Spotlight Lipglaze in Got The Life but otherwise (cheek and eyes) are done with Fräulein palettes.

LOTD ~ Orange Lick

I wanted to do simple make up for work since I found my Primark's orange lipgloss from one of my make up bags and wanted to use it.

Two days of getting natural light for make up photos so might have to try something that actually requires more than just few colours and 10mins.
