I have to tell you first that I have no idea why I bought this except for the fact that I'd have a high-end mascara. I've used this for some time now on and off and I think I have good enough image of what the product does and how it works - on me at least.
Company
Christian Dior S.A. is a French luxury goods selling company. Everyone probably knows that Dior (like it's commonly known) does also clothing and perfumes. Christian Dior Cosmetics line was established in 1969.
Also after a bit of search I found out few pages where people have asked if Dior tests on animals and apparently they do not. Still some pages say they do. Dior's site is quite hard to find anything and so I can't confirm this straight from them.
Prior to this I've only owned a perfume by Christian Dior so I had no other experience of their make up.
Where to buy it and how much for?
At Debenhams this costs £22
At Sephora this costs $24.50
And in Finnish department stores this costs over 30€ (couldn't find a normal priced place to buy this online)
You can buy Dior from most places that sell high-end cosmetics brands.
The packaging
The tube itself is black with silver letters to tell you what it is. Tube is quite chunky and as long as Maybelline Lash Stiletto packaging.
The brush is weird - it isn't too thick but it's quite long and the bristles are quite far apart from each other - and I had trouble in the start with getting it evenly on my lashes without smudging it on my lids. And since this is waterproof and dries quite fast it's really hard to get off your lid without actually ruining part of your eyeshadow too. The brush isn't as chunky as Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express but it's longer.
Product itself
The mascara itself is quite runny. Not too runny but you can make a mess with it if you're not careful with the brush. And it sets fast which means that it's hard to get off without smudging the rest of the make up - like I said in a previous chapter.
Let me show you how it acted on my lashes:
No mascara
One coat
Two coats
Left I have two coats and on right side no mascara
Then I decided to put it to a test against Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express The Falsies waterproof mascara. And this is how it turned out:
Can you tell a difference? Problem is that you can't really and on the left side (like in the upper pic) I have Diorshow with 3 coats (yes, three) and on right side I have ONLY one coat of Falsies. So yeah, if you want volume to your lashes rather choose the way cheaper Maybelline for this.
But I also did a waterproof test with the Diorshow mascara. I wore 2 coats of this when I went to a water theme park with my daughter and spent 3 hours splashing there. I dived, I catched the jumping girl and I even went to sauna. I noticed that my mascara did slowly disappear BUT it didn't smudge. I didn't have any black under my eyes and I couldn't get anything out even if I pulled my lashes gently. I say that IS waterproof!
The above also means this is quite hard to remove especially if you have 2+ coats on. It takes some time to remove this without irritating your eye too much by scrubbing. Good oil based cleanser should do the work with a bit more time than for most other waterproof mascaras.
Ingredients
For those who want. I don't think mascaras are that much different from each other and I'm not going to try and find out if most of these are good for you or not. I know some are sensitive/allergic to paraben but rest, see for yourself:
Aqua (Water), Paraffin, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Acacia Senegal (Acacia Senegal Gum), Cera Alba (Beeswax), Hydroxyethyl-Cellulose, Glycerin, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium Cetyl Phenyl Ether Di Sulfonate, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, BHT. +/- May Contain: Mica, CI 77491, 77492, 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77266 (Black 2), CI 77007 (Ultramarines), CI 75470 (Carmine), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77289 (Chromium Hydroxide Green), CI 77288 (Chromium Oxide Greens)
Would I suggest it or buy it again?
I will not buy this again unless I urgently need a mascara that I know will stay on my lashes if I ever have to go swimming with some on - which I doubt is going to happen. I can't justify buying this expensive mascara again when in 3 coats it is as good as cheaper one in 1 coat. The brush is also a bit difficult for my lashes/eyes. If you have money go ahead and buy it but if you really don't need this waterproof mascara - that is also quite hard to remove - I suggest that you try some cheaper waterproof ones.
Hope this helped!
